geez'n'gosh

Like in all fields of music there are people who think about what they are doing and people who just deal with what already exists. And as I said before, ever since I listen to music there have been only few good things and most releases are crap. This hasn't changed. Most so called "ambient" records I know are still into an aesthetic that originate from the late 70s/early 80s which means that they use a certain approach which I think is totally redundant nowadays. Only a few musicians try to translate "ambient" into our time, using new technology instead of copying an old aesthetic. The 70s/80s were analog, the 90s are digital, so I wonder nowadays ambient still has to sound analog instead of zooming into the architecture of digital technology. I don't want to agitate against "analog" but against a certain use of analog equipment. Playing Tangerine Dream harmonies on a moog, putting a huge reverb on it and calling that ambient is not what I adore. But obviously, especially since major companies jumped on this train, it is what sells and therefore what most people consider to be ambient.
